Lpg Gas Concept Car Driving Away for €3German autogas system supplier Fahrmitgas has announced an lpg concept car - a Chevrolet Matiz-based ‘3-Euro Car’ that will be able to drive 100km using just €3 worth of fuel.
Fahrmitgas, which develops lp gas systems for GM, used bench tests to determine new parameters for the engine management system that adapts the concept car specifically to autogas. Emphasis was placed on optimising power yield at medium engine speeds and maximising efficiency, resulting in reduced fuel consumption.
An automatic stop/start system turns off the engine if the car is stopped
for more than three seconds and, on average, one out of every five time
the car needs refuelling, the entire tank will be used to overcome the
rolling resistance inherent in the low-resistance tyres.
Suspension springs lower the ride height of the Chevrolet Matiz by 30mm,
reducing both aerodynamic drag and fuel consumption. An auxiliary green-yellow-red
display on the dashboard also helps the driver to operate the ‘3-Euro
Car’ at maximum efficiency.
