CLS Dual Fuel Ltd has been supplying and installing lpg autogas equipment for 13 years, and it didn’t take long for us to realise there was a noticeable difference in the quality of components and equipment performance.
MTM Srl, the Italian owner of the BRC Gas Equipment trademark, is a world leader in manufacturing components and systems for converting vehicles from petrol to lpg autogas and cng. Established in 1977, MTM-BRC Gas Equipment Co has become one of the principal companies in the automotive alternative fuel sector, based on the success has of its market leading research and development department.
BRC brought its first carburetion control electronic system to market in 1991 and, in 1996, followed this with its first lpg autogas and cng gaseous injection system. The company now has over 100 dealers, distributors and agents in 60 countries.
BRC’s Sequent is a sophisticated gaseous injection system that’s easy to install and has been adopted by OEMs because of its advanced technology and excellent performance. The BRC trademark is branded to many OEMS, including Citroen, Peugeot, Ford, Volvo, Honda, Jaguar, Nissan and Volkswagen.
With the most advanced lpg autogas systems, there is no perceived difference in the vehicle’s performance on lpg autogas. The Sequent system registers a loss of power of below three per cent when attached to computer diagnostics, lower than some less advanced systems.
The Sequent’s electronic control unit (ECU) calculates the opening times of the injectors cylinder by cylinder and operates each gas injector separately at precisely the moment the air intake valves open. Consequently, the sequential injection control allows the system to deliver the correct fuelling requirements for each vehicle.
Sequent Plug & Drive is the newest lpg autogas conversion system developed by BRC. The system is based on a strengthened hardware structure, which includes a pressure reducer, BRC injectors, a pressure and temperature sensor integrated in the rail, and a powerful ECU. The main innovation is the software controlling the engine that, thanks to new management algorithms, allows simple gaseous fuel dosing optimising so that installers can easily obtain the best results. To assure a higher level of integration with the petrol engine, Sequent Plug & Drive has an update diagnostic on the gas system that allows communication with the vehicle’s original OBD system.
Only three cables need connecting – power supply, ignition live cable and lambda sensor signal wire. All other connections have specific connectors (sensors, gas injectors and petrol injector cuts). The interface software has been developed for easy mapping, and optimisation on vehicles that require it.
A standard setting procedure has been developed, requiring only three deep accelerations and a few seconds of idle. Communication with the petrol OBD allows the display of both petrol and lpg autogas data on a single instrument.
All BRC components are conceived and developed in-house using the latest generation CAD-3D drawing systems, laboratories for static and dynamic tests, and various types of vehicle and emission test benches equipped with modal analysis systems. BRC products are designed and manufactured in accordance with the highest quality standards assured by UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification and comply with R67-01, R110 and ISO 15500, as well as Euro III and Euro IV and EMC norms, and approved by VCA.
