UK Energy Training, formerly LPG Training & Assessment Ltd, is a specialist provider of training programmes for the lpg industry. For the past seven years, we have utilised our unique training and assessment methods to deliver sensible, realistic and cost effective training to customers both large and small right across the UK and Europe.
UK Energy Training works closely with all key players within the lpg industry, as well as its national trade association UKLPG. We are a forward thinking company and have demonstrated our flexible approach and proven ability by designing innovative training solutions for those carrying out lp gas work at the ‘sharp end’.
The specialist marine leisure industry courses that we have delivered take full account of the requirements of our customers. Some require registration with CORGI (The Gas Safe Register after April 1 2009) whilst others do not.
The British Marine Federation (BMF) is the trade association for the leisure marine industry. Its members come from over 4,300 businesses in today’s UK leisure and small commercial marine markets; the turnover of those markets is worth over £3bn. The BMF’s principal activities include the provision of technical, regulatory and manufacturing information advice and assisting with the training and recruitment of skilled staff.
Recently, our flexible approach to course development enabled us to produce a bespoke training programme exclusively for the British Marine Federation. It needed a tailored training course within a fixed time frame deliverable to its members anywhere in the UK. We developed this course, complete with a dedicated training manual, and successfully delivered it to many of the BMF’s members across the UK.
The Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) is jointly owned by British Waterways and the Environment Agency. Its purpose is to minimise the risk of fires or explosions on boats cruising the UK’s inland waterways network by specifying a set of requirements that most boats must meet before they can be granted a navigation licence.
The scheme also recommends a number of best practice measures that enhance the personal health and safety of those onboard privately owned boats. We are currently working with the Boat Safety Scheme directorate to identify ways in which we can assist in preserving lpg gas safety whilst simultaneously simplifying the training and assessment requirements for boat examiners.
Simplification of complicated current standards has made us popular with those who have completed courses with us in the past. In fact, some years ago when we were first invited to carry out lp gas training in France, we endeavoured to add our personal touch and now regularly deliver these courses in French, complete with a bespoke training manual.
Our portfolio of training and assessment courses has now grown far beyond our initial lpg remit. We have developed a range of bespoke courses complete with individual training manuals, not just for the marine leisure industry, but also for many other companies.
Network Rail had a need for training and assessment courses deliverable across the UK and designed to encompass its unique lpg powered trackside points heaters, thus enabling its staff to become CORGI registered. Cavity wall insulation installation companies also require a specialist approach to training. We again came up with the goods and provided a training programme designed exclusively for their industry.
Time stands still for no man and so developing training programmes with our personal touch for other energy sources, such as natural gas, oil and electrics, was a natural progression for us. To better reflect our current portfolio of training courses, we felt it was appropriate to create a new name for ourselves and so UK Energy Training was born. We believe this name better reflects our ability to deliver quality training, whatever the energy source.
