Designer Holdings Mounts Barbecue Style Revolution

John Brunner and Jeremy Taylor, co-founders of British design house and manufacturer Designer Holdings, have partnered with a Danish furniture design team to launch the new Grilltech C-BBQ range.

John Brunner said: “This year, barbecues get a much needed style makeover with our award-winning brand Grilltech releasing the new contemporary C-BBQ range. ’Cool’, ‘minimalist’ or ‘chic’ were not adjectives used to describe barbecues until we set about a style evolution, transforming the humble grill into an object of desire. Incorporating cutting edge design, with durability and exceptional quality, the range comprises three sleek stainless steel models offering luxurious grilling experiences that look and perform like no other.”

The C-BBQ 1 is a professional grade lp gas barbecue and, with a 3,123cm2 cooking area, it’s the largest grill in the range. The rectangular stainless steel model features a roll away roasting lid operated by a side handle, multi-functional wooden shelving that can be turned down to house cooking utensils or opened out to extend the cooking space, cast iron grills and two high power extra long burners.

The C-BBQ 2 and C-BBQ 3 models are designed for smaller terraces and balconies. Like the C-BBQ 1, they are equipped with cast iron grills and space saving features, including an integral fold down roasting lid that rotates 180 degrees and is concealed under the 1,600cm2 cooking area, plus a slide out drip tray for easy cleaning.

John said: “Grilltech set out with the mission to create a barbecue that didn’t look like a barbecue. Barbecues tend to have very little design input and they can be a bit of an eyesore on a beautiful rooftop or balcony. This product was crying out for a redesign.” Buoyed with their mission of redesigning the un-designed, John and Jeremy have created a portfolio of everyday household items that have been transformed from “mundane devices into slick must-have designer pieces”. Home brands under the Direct Designs banner include the Grilltech and Hotspot barbecues, the Heatstrip indoor/outdoor heater and the Urban Flame indoor fireplace.
