Gas Safe Register Reviewed

Gas Safe Register is currently reviewing the competence requirements for registration to the scheme. The review will be conducted over the next 12 months with a final report submitted to the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) in autumn 2011.

Simon Ayers at Gas Safe Register said: “Our primary role in the review is to bring together the viewpoints and experiences of all those with an interest in the topic and to ensure that all parties have an opportunity to contribute.”

Gas Safe Register is preparing an evidence-based report for HSE on the current competence regime that will include suggestions for the improvement of gas safety. The review will focus solely on the competence required for registration and its impact on consumer gas safety.

Simon said: “As our first major activity of the review, we are proposing a series of face to face workshops across the country in November and December. The purpose of the workshops is to help us identify and confirm the key points which industry and related parties think the review should examine.”
