Integrated Gas Technologies (IGT) Expanding UK Presence

IGT is aiming to be a truly global lpg regulator supplier and is increasing its presence in the UK market.

The lp gas industry meets in Madrid at the end of September at the joint event of the 23rd World LP Gas Forum, the 2010 AEGPL Congress and the 25th AIGPL Conference.

Integrated Gas Technologies Ltd (IGT) is participating again at the exhibition on booths 67 and 68 and, for the seventh year, will be showing its renowned range of lpg gas regulators and new features on existing models.

Peter Jacobsen and myself founded IGT in 2004 and, since then, the company has seen strong growth, becoming a significant market player, not only in Europe and China but also worldwide, with sales in more than 70 countries. As the globalisation of the lpg business increases, what looked like a risky business venture then has now materialised into a 7,000m2 factory in China, with an output of millions of lpg gas regulators and a staff of almost 100 enthusiastic, hard working employees all striving for perfection.

Both founders of IGT have a long background in the lp gas business dating back to our employment with Kosan Teknova in Denmark. There is no doubt that the virtues and insights we learned as young engineers have had a great impact on the company’s success.

Today, IGT has a complete product range for Europe and China and CE approved regulators meeting EN12864. IGT’s company in China is Ningbo Shuai Xian Regulator Factory Co Ltd, founded as a wholly foreign owned enterprise to ensure that its first priority was the quality, safety and reliability of its lpg regulators, allowing us to offer a five-year guarantee.

IGT’s present factory was inaugurated in October 2009. Since then, we have installed pressure die cast machinery for the lp gas regulator bodies, and we are now in control of all the production processes. By May 2010, the factory had obtained the ISO 9000 certification, but it doesn’t stop there – we have an extensive product development programme in place and new products are launched every month.

The new developments are conducted by a young team of well-trained engineers who are monitored and guided by the experienced IGT team in Denmark. Converting final drawings direct into die cast tools from the CAD system, the best possible quality is obtained from the start of a new product through to completion.

The factory has implemented an up to date enterprise resource planning system that can easily manage the throughput of thousands of orders each year. Regulator assembly is semi automatic, which ensures a very flexible workflow where customised products can be made without incurring extra cost.

Every IGT regulator is tested thoroughly after assembly and a QA system is in place to ensure that the quality is always the best possible. IGT now enjoys a very small scrap rate on finished products.

One could ask why IGT has been so successful at establishing itself in such a mature market. The answer is simple – our competitively priced, well-designed, safe, reliable and user-friendly products are delivered on time and include a five-year warranty.

This year, IGT has increased its presence in the UK market with a British sales representative Paul Selini. Our UK customers have taken to the IGT lpg regulator so well and so fast that it has put pressure on our logistics. IGT has had to regularly airfreight regulators into the UK market to cope with the unforeseen demand.

Now the stock is replenished and complete ranges of lpg gas regulators can be supplied competitively direct from the UK. In 2011, a large lp gas regulator stock will be built up and new products launched to meet the increased demand in the UK.

IGT is aiming to be a truly global supplier of lpg regulators and, even with hundreds of competitors worldwide, the outlook for the company is bright. A competent network of distributors is being established and our focus on customer and market needs is ever present.
