Chancellor Alistair Darling is expected to announce that petrol and diesel duty will rise to 54.19p per litre, up 1.84p per litre, and duty on lpg autogas will rise to 12.41p per litre, up 2.025p per litre.
Mike Chapman, autogas manager at UKLPG, said: “In the absence of any announcement from the Government, it appears that the fuel duty increases proposed to take effect from April 1 are to proceed. Lpg autogas’ differential with petrol reduces by 0.185p per litre, which is well below the maximum 1p per litre per year reduction in duty differential policy announced by the Government.”
