Vauxhall Head of Government
Affairs Receives OBE
Katherine Bennett, Head of Government Affairs
at Vauxhall and GMUK, who spoke at the LPGA AGM in May, was awarded
an OBE in HM The Queen’s Birthday Honours’ list.
She has been recognised for services to the automotive industry
and to charity.
Katherine’s recognition is a result
of her eight and a half years successfully forging links between
Vauxhall, the Government and the company’s local communities.
The benefits of these links have served to develop a mutual level
of understanding of the impact of numerous legislative issues
facing the motor industry in the UK.
Katherine also heads up Vauxhall’s charitable activities, including the
successful Griffin Awards, run in conjunction with local newspaper groups in
Bedfordshire and Cheshire.
Commenting on the award, Katherine said: “I
feel highly privileged to have received the OBE. I thoroughly
enjoy working with the communities where Vauxhall operates and
take considerable pride in the work that we have all done together."
A Bedfordshire resident, Katherine has been a Governor of a Further Education
College in Dunstable for the last four years and is a Board member of the Bedfordshire
Learning and Skills Council. She is a member of the IPR and its Government
Affairs Group. Katherine is completing her third and final year as an External
Examiner in Public Relations at Leeds Metropolitan University and lectures
on the MA Public Relations degree course at Cardiff University.
