Associations Plan Joint
Meeting
The LP Gas Association (LPGA) and the Association
of Liquefied Gas and Equipment Distributors (ALGED) are to hold
a joint members meeting for the first time at the Hinkley Island
Hotel at Hinkley near Coventry on October 5–6 2006.
Steve
Walmsley, chairman of ALGED, said: “Following many
meetings of the two associations held over the past few years,
we are at last to hold a joint autumn conference, which will
be chaired by John Tolchard, the LPGA chairman, and myself.
“
The aim of this joint venture is to gauge the feelings of the
members of both associations with an eventual view to creating
one new ‘super association’ that we feel is the way
forwards in the light of recent findings of the Competition Commission
and also the number of gas company takeovers of the past few
months.
"I would like to welcome all members
of both associations to attend this very important gathering
and look forward to seeing everyone
in October.”
ALGED will also hold its two regular members
meetings next year at the same hotel on March 29–30 and
October 4–5.
Rob Shuttleworth, director general of the
LPGA, said: “I
think it is the right time for the two associations to look at
how we can create one association, and this joint meeting is
a major step in that direction. I hope as many members as possible
of both associations will attend the meeting to share their views
on this and other issues dominating our agenda.”
