International Swinging
This year’s LPGA Golf Tournament, organised
by Tony Bailey of Beta Gas, had a distinctly international feel
to it, with all the home countries represented, including members
from the Channel Islands.
"Unlike previous years, for once the
weather was perfect,” said
Roger Adams of Lakeland Tankers, which sponsored the prizes. “The
course was in perfect condition and the Barton on Sea Golf Club
made us most welcome.”
The competition was fierce and the
standard of golf was exceptional, said Roger, and a number of
players were in contention with two
holes to play. The winner was Peter Roberts of Re-Manufacturing
Services with a score of 38 points, followed by Colin Matthews
from The Energy Savings Trust with 36 points, Paul Fairclough
in third with 34 points, and David Hughes of Flogas finished
fourth. Betsy Fairclough won the ladies’ competition.
