Vauxhall Dual Fuel Sales
Reach 4,000
Vauxhall continues to lead the dual fuel market
with the sale of its 4,000th dual fuel vehicle.
Vauxhall has the widest range of dual fuel
models, taking in Corsa, Astra, Astra Coupe, Vectra and Zafira
cars, and Combo and Astravans.
The Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 16v model has been
rated the cleanest company car in the country in an emissions
rating league of the top 20 greenest cars used by the Environment
Agency. The Vauxhall Astra 1.6 LPG, Vectra 1.8 LPG and Zafira
1.6 LPG also feature in the top 20.
The league is created using a formula that
calculates the vehicles’ impact on global warming and air
quality using a combination of tailpipe emissions and fuel economy
figures from the Vehicle Certification Agency.
Don Ridley, fleet advisor to the Environment
Agency, said: “We try to take a well-to-wheel view of green
vehicles and encourage our drivers to choose the greenest, most
environmentally friendly vehicles possible.
"We have compiled the top 20 cleanest
cars rating as a guide for our drivers to be able to see which
produce the least harmful emissions. We then provide a financial
incentive for them to choose the cleanest and greenest. That
could equate to a saving of £25 to £45 per month."
Vauxhall has also announced that Cadbury Trebor
Bassett, producer of many of the country’s favourite sweets,
has introduced the Dualfuel Combo to its 900 strong fleet of
vehicles following a successful trial.
The company is currently running 22 1.6i lpg/petrol
engine Combos for van sales staff in its Food Service Division.
It is the first time the Birmingham based company has ventured
into lpg use as part of a wider social and environmentally friendly
policy, and feels happy to do so because of greater availability
of lpg at forecourts in the UK.
