Lpg Vehicles Help Lambeth
Win Awards
With the help of its lpg fleet, the London
Borough of Lambeth’s green efforts have been rewarded in
the recent national Green Apple Environment Awards for Local
Authorities 2004 with two top awards. The council was presented
with a ‘gold’ award in the London Boroughs category
for overall environmental efforts and the National Green Champion
award.
75% of the council’s fleet is lpg powered,
and the council insists that hire vehicles must, where possible,
be powered
by
lpg, bi-powered or electric.
Cllr Clare Whelan, executive member
for the environment, said: “Winning
these awards is a stunning achievement and shows that the council
has made significant progress in adopting green practices over
the past couple of years. This is something to be proud of and
to build on."
