innergy LPG Wins Startups
Award
innergy LPG was named Micro Business of the
Year at the NatWest Startups Awards in October. The company was
founded in March 2006 by Gez Walsh and Maurice Gardiner and is
one of the fastest growing suppliers of bulk and bottled lpg
and associated equipment in the UK.
“
Winning the award was the culmination of eighteen months of hard
work and is fantastic recognition for all our team, whose efforts
have seen us achieve and exceed our challenging business plan,” said
Gez Walsh, commercial director at innergy LPG. “Hopefully,
the award will see innergy LPG progress from the first stage
of building a business – basic survival – to developing
into an established and ambitious organisation. Our stated mission
has always been to become a market leader and this recognition
of our success to date adds credibility to our ambitions. We
are grateful for all the support we have been given from our
key partners – Calor Gas, Air Liquide and HSBC – and
are looking forward to progressing our ambitious growth plans.”
The
judging panel were impressed by innergy LPG’s innovation,
concept and potential, recognising that the company is one of
fifteen of the best new start-up companies in the UK.
The judges
commented: “innergy are an excellent example
of a business that is fully exploiting the benefits of being
small. Entering an established and competitive market dominated
by a small number of very large players, the founders used their
extensive knowledge of the marketplace to launch a business that
already boasts impressive turnover and profitability after just
18 months of trading…the founders also demonstrated that
they are building a strong company culture that should result
in continued and sustained growth.”
