Clesse Acquired by Aalberts

Lpg and water product manufacturer, Comap S.A., which is based in France, is in the process of being sold to Dutch manufacturer, Aalberts Industries Group.
Legris Industries S.A, the current owner of Comap, is finalising the details subject to EU legislation, which should be complete in the first quarter of 2006.

With existing interests in flow control and the industrial services sector within Europe, both in water and gas, Aalberts Industries has indicated that this is “a long term strategy to strengthen the group’s position in the flow control sector”, with the takeover “creating a unique European network” of companies, which includes Comap’s lpg division, Clesse (UK) Ltd, and manufacturers, Clesse and Novacomet.

Aalberts, which already has interests in Europe with natural gas equipment, has stated its intention to “extend the reach of its total gas activities and acquire an even stronger position as a gas specialist”.

Sales and marketing manager for Clesse (UK) Ltd, Kaz Dziamarski, who has recently taken responsibility for the UK operation, believes this is a positive move for the company and in line with the direction the UK operation is taking: “Things are much the same and business is as usual with our extensive range of products, together with large stocks based in the Midlands for our UK and Irish customers.

"Since myself and operations manager, Alan Cox, took over in the summer, our priority has been to look at all aspects of the business to ensure our customers get good consistent service and the recognisable quality of equipment they have come to expect. We have been working very hard on further extending our range of equipment, particularly in the bulk tank sector to be rolled out in the spring, together with facelifts for some of our popular items in the cylinder and leisure regulator sector.

"The change in ownership will, I’m sure, be one way to ensure we have a dynamic European lpg equipment business by strengthening our existing sales, marketing, development and manufacturing businesses within Europe,” he said.
