Director General Announces
Retirement
Tom Fidell will retire from his position as
director general of the LP Gas Association in May after 13 years
in the role.
“
Over the last 13 years we have seen some major changes, both
within the industry and at the association,” he said. “Over
the years, many gas supply companies have been taken over and
we now have a compact and efficient industry. However, despite
the reduction in the number of gas suppliers, the membership
of the association has more than doubled and we have moved from
a position of near bankruptcy to one of having substantial financial
reserves of over £800,000.
“
For most members, subscriptions are around 50% less in real terms
than they were 10 years ago and, in addition, a discount is being
given for the next year or two in view of the high level of reserves.
“
The association is highly regarded among government officials
and we have a track record of obtaining good results year after
year for the industry.
“
I hope that, at the end of May, I will be handing over an effective
organisation to someone who will drive it to even higher levels
of success and achievement,” he concluded.
