Pre-Budget Commitment
In the Chancellor’s Pre-Budget Report,
Gordon Brown confirmed the commitment from the Government that
the differential in duty between autogas and petrol/diesel would
reduce by a maximum of only once pence per year by raising autogas
fuel duty by 2.25p and that on petrol/diesel by 1.25p. This means
that the price of lpg at the pumps will continue at around half
the price of petrol and diesel for the foreseeable future.
“There are over a million motorists
worldwide benefiting from running on lpg,” said Rob Shuttleworth,
director general of the LPGA. “In the UK, this figure is
over 130,000 and growing, and with 1,300 public access refuelling
sites in the
UK, it is easy to fill up wherever you are in the country. With
the significant environmental advantages of using lpg, motorists
changing to this fuel should not only save money, but also be
playing their part in improving the environment by way of both
carbon savings and enhanced air quality.”
