Extra Curricular Activity
Twenty-one golfers teed off on the beautiful
parkland course at the Kenilworth Golf Club for the LPGA Golf
Tournament in April.
Whilst some were in better shape than others,
depending on their alcohol consumption the previous evening at
the Conference Gala
Evening of the LPGA AGM & Conference, the competition prompted
some quality golf throughout the field.
The men’s competition
turned into a personal dual between Colin Matthews and Barney
Milles from the Energy Saving Trust,
who scored 33 and 32 respectively.
In third place, leading the gas suppliers home, was Tony Murphy
from ConocoPhillips.
A close competition ensued in the ladies
competition. Betsy Fairclough from Guernsey was in second place,
with Jennifer Parkhill from
Northern Ireland the winner.
As usual, the event was organised
by Tony Bailey of Betagas, assisted by Roger Adams of Lakeland
Tankers who, once again,
generously sponsored the prize giving.
The alternative to the
golf was a mixture of activities under the banner of "True
Grit", organised by the events
company, Active Imagination.
The players participated in a variety
of activities, including archery, rollerball and photo-scrabble.
Although it was a team
competition, the silver tankard, kindly sponsored by Elaflex,
was awarded to the highest scoring individual, Richard Smith
of Elster Jeavons Ltd.
"Great fun was had by all and, for some
delegates, it was the highlight of the whole Conference!" said
Anna Dore of the LPGA, who captained one of the teams.
