‘Old Tanks’ Scheme
Replaced
From July 1 2006, the present system of inspections
on ‘old tanks’ built before May 10 2004 being carried
out by a ‘competent person’ is being replaced. ‘Inspection
bodies’ appointed by the Department for Transport (DfT)
will undertake inspections from that date.
The DfT has completed
drafting the guidelines for appointment for the old tanks inspection
bodies. The document, Reference
DR6, details the management system, staff and facilities required
to become an inspection body.
