Sensile Making Telemetry SENTS

The main concern for lpg distributors today is strong competition leading to price reductions. In order to reduce costs to stay competitive, distributors must optimise the logistics of their lpg gas supply chain.

Lp gas distributors already have tools to plan their deliveries, but often lack a key piece of information to optimise them – a reliable ‘live’ measurement of the level of each of their customers’ lp gas tanks. By knowing the exact amount of lpg left in each tank, lpg gas distributors can decide exactly when and how much to deliver, and so can easily plan deliveries in a cost effective manner.

The most efficient way to get such measurements is to install a remote tank monitoring system – which Sensile Technologies has offered for many years. Sensile’s SENTS solution includes a battery powered telemetry system on each lpg vessel and level measurements are sent regularly via a GSM network to a central server, which automatically processes the data. Sensile Technologies has calculated that the 25,000 vessels monitored with its SENTS solution translate to 2.2 million fewer kilometres travelled by delivery trucks each year. This reduces their carbon footprint by an estimated 2,200 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year – or more than 6 tonnes per day (which is about the yearly emissions of an individual in Switzerland).
