The handling of dangerous and combustible lpg containers needs to be carried out with the utmost care and precision. To meet the needs of the lp gas industry worldwide, Moffett has created a series of dedicated truck-mounted forklifts. The machines attach to the rear of a trailer or lorry and can be demounted and ready for action in less than one minute. The entire procedure, from mounting to end delivery, can be carried out by a single operator, increasing efficiency and cutting labour costs.

The Moffett range features lift capacities up to 3.5 tonnes, making them suitable for moving all types of cylinder packs, pallets and large tank installations.

Moffett first invented the concept of the truck-mounted forklift some 40 years ago. The latest generation of forklifts also includes an array of enhancements and improvements focused on giving drivers safety, manoeuvrability and extra features, says the company.

Safe and stable handling of goods means delivery-related damage can be reduced or eradicated, and cylinders can be set down gently and exactly where the customer requires, with no manual lifting needed.

The Moffett truck-mounted forklifts used in the lp gas industry also have a number of inbuilt features meeting the latest safety standards. A range of equipment is included as standard – flashing beacon and work lights; reverse beeper and safety belt; differential lock; machine management system; an hydraulic filtration system, and an easy drive regulator to prevent stalling.

In 2004, Moffett made an €8 million investment at its plant in Dundalk, Ireland, as part of an ongoing programme to create a ‘Centre of Excellence’. This included a centralised component centre for truck-mounted forklifts and a paint facility. The firm also offers a spare parts delivery network and servicing.
