Students Invent Lpg Car Cylinder Leak Warning System

Lpg-Car-Cylinder-Leak-Warning-System

Thai students from Kanchanuburi Technical College have invented a warning system against leakage from lpg cylinders in cars. The electronic device is linked to two censors in the engine compartment and the boot of the vehicle.

If leakage occurs, an alarm sounds to warn the driver, the car engine is shut down and, if the warning system detects a large amount of lpg, fire extinguishers will automatically spray chemicals to prevent sparks.
Sitthipong Sirinoi, one of the students, said: “Chemicals from the fire extinguishers will prevent sparks and heat, which can cause an explosion when gas leaks. If the spark occurs in the engine area, there is less oxygen, so the fire can be easily put out.”

A patent has been applied for and the college is now working with the private sector towards commercial production.
