Tasca Tankers Building Long-Term Partnerships

This year has been one of the most challenging the lp gas industry has faced. Consequently, Tasca Tankers Ltd has been working hard to expand its current customer base and range of products.

Tasca Tankers has been building lpg delivery vehicles since 2000, when we received our first order from Gaulds Gas in Inverurie to remount one of its existing vessels onto a new chassis. Since then, we have seen steady growth in both the number of vehicles produced in our Wakefield factory and the number of customers who choose Tasca Tankers as their preferred builder.

We now carry out new builds, remounts and refurbishment/recertification work for a large cross section of the lpg gas industry, from small independents with one or two vehicles right up to the major lpg suppliers and their subcontractors.

We have always prided ourselves on our attention to detail, from initial discussions, right through the build process to driver training on completed vehicles. We hold to a core ethos that we are not just supplying a vehicle, we are also building long-term partnerships with customers and their staff. This has enabled us to expand our customer base by a combination of hard work from our dedicated sales team and workforce, and personal recommendation from our highly satisfied customers.

Due to our expanding workload for new lp gas delivery vehicles, the company has taken the decision to invest in facilities to enable us to manufacture new lpg gas vessels in-house. This will allow Tasca Tankers to have full control of the entire build process, with customers able to see their build from start to finish.

Tasca Tankers can now offer bespoke vessels made to customers’ exact requirements, allowing them to maximise their carrying capability. We will bring you more information on this new development in future issues of LP Gas.

We have also introduced a new integrated meter/control system to enable drivers to operate their vehicles from either the side or the rear. The compact design of the cabinet allows the rear overhang to be kept to a minimum, improving manoeuvrability. The comprehensive mounting design of the cabinet enables quick and simple installation, and it can be easily retrofitted to existing vehicles with mechanical heads.

The cabinet has all the controls that the driver will need to carry out a delivery in one ergonomically designed area, including remote engine start/stop, pneumatic foot valve/PTO controls (where a clutch type PTO is used) and the meter head, which can be set to either a preset amount or allows for a simple start up with the press of a button.

Our third innovation is to bring out a new durable remote control, which is fully EX rated and specifically designed for the lpg market. The easily understood controls, which are clearly labelled, make driver operation and training a simple task.

These new systems have been fitted to two sister vehicles we have recently finished for longstanding customer Extra Gas in Manchester. Karl Cooper, managing director of Extra Gas, has been delighted with the ease of operation and the additional features the new integrated control boxes have brought to the vehicles, including date and time of delivery. The provision of an accurate preset delivery, where the customer requires a specific amount, allows safe delivery of lp gas without the need for the driver to try and watch the meter counter from the customer’s tank.

Extra Gas asked for the new cabinets to be fitted on the nearside of the vehicle. The decision to mount the cabinet on the nearside was taken to minimise the time the driver spent at the rear of the vehicle at the start/end of the delivery.

Due to the compact nature of the cabinet’s design, we were able to mount both the cabinet and the eight foot stowage ladder Extra Gas has fitted to its vehicles on the nearside, so that the driver would no longer need to stand in the middle of the road while deploying/stowing the ladder, improving driver safety at the delivery.

The remote control and integrated meter/control system can be used as a stand-alone system or as part of a complete package. As part of the design brief, we wanted to enable both new modules to be used in conjunction with existing equipment. We have already achieved this for Manx Gas on its new 5 tonne payload vehicle, which uses a standard industry remote control system with our new integrated meter/control system.

Tasca Tankers can now provide a full range of vehicles to meet the customer’s exact needs, ranging from 5 tonne mini bulk delivery vehicles right through to 44 tonne GVW semi trailers. We pride ourselves on providing a better build.
