Cannongate’s echo-sounding technology calculates the level of lpg in the vessel.Echoing the Benefits

The use of telemetry within the lpg market is now widely accepted and commonplace. The benefits of automatic and remote lpg tank measurement are well documented and have never been more important in these days of increased focus on cost reduction and attention to customer service.

“Where telemetry can fall down is in the quality of the data that is being collected, stored and used to make many decisions,” said Brian Taylor of Canongate Technology Ltd. “Float gauges, which are widely used, are notoriously prone to ‘sticking’ and, as such, the telemetry system will read and report false lpg level/content information.

“VesselCheck ST1A from Canongate Technology is simple, reliable and can be fitted to the tank without any intrusion into the tank whatsoever. A small ultrasound transceiver is bonded to the outside wall of the tank and, using echo-sounding technology, calculates the level of lpg in the tank. VesselCheck is used by many major lpg suppliers and users all over the world.”
