Purvin & Gertz Holding Lpg Seminar

Purvin & Gertz will hold its Asia LPG Seminar in Singapore on June 22-25. Purvin & Gertz and key industry executives will discuss the outlook for future international and regional lpg supply, demand, marketing, trade and pricing.

Ken Otto of Purvin & Gertz said: “Asia is the fastest growing market for energy in the world and is expected to continue to expand as regional economies grow, income levels rise and more people gain access to modern fuels. We expect the use of lpg to continue to rise in Asia due to its appeal as a clean fuel and increasing access to lpg in the region.

“Events of the past 18 months have certainly presented some challenges to the lpg industry. Prices rose to unimaginable levels in mid 2008, only to be followed by the global economic downturn that began in late 2008 and has carried into 2009.

“In spite of these challenges, the long-term prospects for lpg market growth in Asia remain strong. Global lpg supplies are expanding very quickly due to a combination of numerous lpg projects in the Middle East and other regions and expansion of Asia’s refining industry. The lpg shipping industry has undergone a major expansion and is ready to adjust to increased trade volumes and shifting trade flows.

“Many changes are occurring in the industry as a result of these developments and we anticipate many opportunities and challenges in the lpg industry in the future.”
