WLPGA Promotes Lpg at UNCCC

For the fourth time, the World LP Gas Association represented the lp gas industry at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP16 in December, which took place in Cancun, Mexico.

WLPGA first vice president Kimball Chen, who spoke at the summit, and deputy managing director Michael Kelly, represented the organisation. They promoted lpg’s benefits to negotiators and environment, energy and business stakeholders.

Michael Kelly said: “The Cancun conference is the most significant UN gathering of global stakeholders of climate change in 2010. The outcomes of the conference are of great importance for the entire lp gas industry, as it could lead to the creation of new opportunities for the industry.”

The WLPGA promoted the social, economic and environmental benefits of lpg gas usage around the world.

Michael said: “Lp gas technologies – available and accessible worldwide – are helping to mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions immediately with no need for large investments in research and development or infrastructure. The summit will be a valuable opportunity for WLPGA to kick-start collaboration with businesses, investors and governments on implementing, scaling, financing and replicating bottom up solutions.” The WLPGA also had an information stand at the Cancun Business Day to present the benefits of lpg to government officials, negotiators and business representatives.
