NME Transiting Demand Nicholson McLaren Engines Ltd (NME) has introduced a congestion charge exempt lpg conversion for the latest Ford Transit vans with the Duratec 2.3 petrol engine that meets European standard R6701 and is European On Board Diagnosis (EOBD) compliant.
John Waghorn, NME’s sales director, said: “With petrol and diesel costs at a record high level of at or above £1 per litre, there is an increasing demand for lpg conversions. To meet this demand in the large panel van sector, we are now able to offer a PowerShift Band 4 conversion for the latest Transit. This conversion has been proven to deliver reduced emissions and similar performance to the petrol engine Transit and has the same 15,000 mile service intervals.”
The conversion uses TeleflexGFI’s SGI 3, a sequential, common rail gas injection system, allowing the system to directly follow the 2.3 Duratec’s main ECU fuelling requirements.
NME says that it has already received a number of significant orders for the conversion from companies, such as Iceland, Humberside Police and the Kier Group.
“In total, we already have some 100 plus orders in hand for the new Ford Transit conversion,” said John.
