Technical Excellence Award
Richard Wigfull of John Wigfull & Co Ltd
was the third recipient of the Alan Hill-Hartporter Award for
technical excellence at the LPGA AGM & Conference. He received
the award for his work on the development of robust systems to
ensure that quantities of lpg dispensed to motorists from autogas
dispensing systems meet Trading Standards requirements, and that
Petroleum Licensing Authorities use LPGA Codes of Practice as
a basis for inspections at lpg dispensing sites.
"I’m particularly pleased that, this year, the award goes
to one of the Association’s smaller members, one who puts
in a significant amount of time for the benefit of the industry,
and is an example we should all follow," said Tom Fidell,
director general of the LPGA.
"I am honoured to have 12-month custody of the plaque presented
by the LPGA for technical achievement. Having known the donor,
Alan Hill-Porter, long before he was exiled to Van Diemen Land,
it could be considered to be revenge from the “grave".
I believe that one reason for being nominated was for work on
lpg measurement, a subject he first interested me in over ten
years ago!" said Richard.
